OUR HISTORY
The Origin of LokPool
At the beginning of 2020, Müller Gleisbau operated three older locomotives from the 1990s, built by CKG for a steel mill in Salzgitter. However, the vehicles were unreliable, and qualified personnel were difficult to find.
Müller Technologie AG was commissioned to look for a modern alternative. It quickly became apparent that there were hardly any suitable vehicles on the market. This gave rise to the idea of modernizing existing locomotives – preferably a model with an available fleet.
The choice fell on the electrically powered Am 841, which proved to be a solid basis. Various new drive concepts were developed and presented to a specialist audience. This gave rise to the idea of a joint pool with identical locomotives in order to utilise synergies and secure investments.
LokPool was founded with initially eight partners. Initially, seven Am 841 locomotives were taken over from SBB, later expanded to twelve due to high utilization.
LokPool AG has commissioned Müller Technologie AG to develop and build the Tribrid locomotive Aeam 841. The prototype is currently undergoing the approval process. In 2026, two locomotives will be put into service in July, followed by an additional three in September. This expansion will bring LokPool’s fleet to a total of 17 locomotives from 2026, ready for efficient and sustainable operation.

Efficient Together
LokPool acts as an organisational framework for the operation of the locomotive fleet. It procures services such as maintenance and disposition externally, while the management and further development are managed internally.
Thanks to the close cooperation with TR Trans Rail AG, our customers benefit from maximum flexibility. TR Trans Rail supports us in the following areas in particular:
- Deployment and transport planning
- Billing and invoicing
On behalf of LokPool, 5 new Aeam 841 tribrid locomotives are being built by Müller Technologie AG. In addition, it acts as our certified ECM service provider and is responsible for the maintenance of the existing Am 841 fleet.
